Preparing a MIDlet for installation from your PC

Before you install a MIDlet on your phone using your PC, you will need to make a slight amendment to your JAD file. This is not as scary as it might sound, as the JAD is actually just a text file you can edit using Notepad or any other text editor.

You need to change the line which begins "MIDlet-Jar-URL:". This is the line which will tell the phone during installation where to find the JAD's matching JAR file. By default, it will specify a location on LanguageBug's server. You just need to trim off everything following the space after ":" until the final "/".

For example, the line:

MIDlet-Jar-URL: http://www.languagebug.com/kanji_q/downloads/KanjiQ_Grade1_en.jar

would become:

MIDlet-Jar-URL: KanjiQ_Grade1_en.jar

Once you're made the amendment, simply, save the JAD file and get installing!
