Java MIDlet Installation

Users in Japan click here.

Java applications for mobile phones, also known as "MIDlets", come as 2 files - a small JAD (Java Application Descriptor) file and a larger JAR (Java Archive) file. To install a MIDlet, you must transfer both these files to your mobile phone (however some phones, such as the SonyEricsson P800 only require the JAR file).

The method of transfer depends on the phone you're using and the PC hardware you have available. There are several methods:

Downloading from the internet using WAP or HTML

PC-to-phone email

PC-to-phone messaging

PC-to-phone connection using installation software
